Finally, allow me a brief digression from the summer spectacle on France’s country roads to a more global perspective. As a freelance journalist in the alternative media sector, I still find it incomprehensible why the obvious and easily researchable scandalous aspects of critical sports reporting (or other subject areas) are so carelessly neglected by my colleagues in the mainstream media. Wokism and cancel culture, self-censorship and self-conditioning as symptoms of this “normopathy” in newsrooms, certainly contribute significantly to this ideologically driven way of working. After all, I already experienced “editorial guidelines” in the 1990s during my collaboration with mainstream media—a euphemistic term for the then-taboo subject of censorship in press law. However, what has become a globally synchronized reality since the mass deletion of critical investigative articles at the start of the Orwellian Covid-1984 spectacle surpasses all previously known dimensions of freedom of expression and urgently requires a broad societal debate about its legality. This reflection is all the more urgent because, largely unnoticed by most contemporaries, a multinational regulatory web is currently being woven, which threatens to absorb and criminalize any free expression of opinion outside the mainstream. The first stage begins subtly with the establishment of denunciation portals [23], a national pastime in which the average German has repeatedly demonstrated its world-class skills in recent history. And, as is fitting for Diversity Germany, the domestic snitch gang is, of course, overseen by an Islamic scholar [24].
To completely banish unwelcome critical voices from public discourse, laws and regulations ensure the surreptitious burial of freedom of expression [25]. In this way, 29 million articles were already deleted from the internet in the first quarter of 2025 [26]! If one extrapolates this development with current technological possibilities, then it is perfectly clear that in the future AI algorithms will dominate all media sectors and eliminate the profession of journalism. Somehow, this confirms my intuitive aversion to artificial intelligence; as a natural scientist, I still favor natural intelligence.
