Let’s turn to the victorious lady, Janine Meyer (46 years old, 1.65m, 47.7kg), whose data actually creates even more incredulous astonishment. The way in which every possible means is used to achieve the optimum is already clear from Meyer’s racing bullet. She rides a special bike that weighs only 5.3kg (!) [26] and thus violates the UCI weight limit of 6.8kg, which, however, does not apply to races like Gran Fondos or the ÖRM, which is actually absurd. This means that she raced at top speeds of over 105 km/h on the Kühtai descent and over 90 km/h for almost 2 minutes on the Timmelsjoch [27]. This exploration of limits in the border area shows what the athletes are fundamentally ready for at everyman events.

Meyer’s highly professional preparation, documented and illustrated on her Facebook account [s. 26], with extremely expensive altitude training camps in Livigno, acclimatization in altitude tents [27], which corresponds to the standard of the top-financed World Tour teams in professional cycling, shows the complete professionalization of the everyman scene. On August 24th, 2024 she achieved a personal VAM best of 1400hm/h [28] and took second place between professional racers (Ema Pooley and Elisa Longo-Borghini) in the Strava QOM (Queen of the Mountain) segment at the Gavia Pass! All of this at the advanced age of 46 (born in 1978)!!!

Even more absurd that she won the QOM record in the Vosges at the Grand Ballon, against the entire world elite of women’s cycling who rode in the Tour de France Femmes!!!!

On the climbs of the ÖRM it delivers the following values:

Kühtai -> 1h:00min:05s at Ø207Watt (4.33W/kg KG, QOM), VAM 1225m/h, the first 6.5 km with 1293m/h VAM.

Brenner -> 1h:15min:08s at Ø166Watt (3.48 W/kg body weight, 5min slower than 2023 because the leading group was slow due to headwind).

Jaufenpass -> 55min:50s at Ø203Watt (4.25 W/kg body weight, QOM), VAM 1220m/h. Timmelsjoch -> 1h:42min:34s at Ø183Watt (3.83 W/kg KG, QOM and 3.5min faster than 2023, VAM from the start of the incline 1124m/h, thus 22nd time at this year’s ÖRM).

Timmelsjoch – Sölden descent -> in 27min:47s (QOM and rank 17 overall on Strava!).
